// UPTIMEROBOT ALTERNATIVE

The UptimeRobot alternative with real SSL monitoring

UptimeRobot checks whether a port is open and whether a certificate has expired. CertFleet probes the live TLS handshake, watches Certificate Transparency logs, and fires staged alerts before any certificate lapses — while also providing full HTTP uptime monitoring. Both jobs, one focused tool.

UptimeRobot's SSL check verifies that a certificate exists and has not expired — a basic expiry check, not a full certificate probe. It does not read the certificate your server actually serves via a live TLS handshake, which means it misses the most common SSL failure: a certificate that was renewed at the CA but never deployed to the server. The server keeps serving the old certificate; UptimeRobot sees 'valid' until the old cert expires and production fails.

CertFleet performs a real TLS handshake on every check and reads the X.509 certificate your server presents. It compares the current certificate against the last known one to detect replacements. It also queries Certificate Transparency logs for your domains: the moment a new certificate is issued — by your own renewal automation or by an unauthorised third party — CertFleet fires an immediate alert. This closes the security gap that expiry-only monitoring leaves open.

On the uptime side, CertFleet matches UptimeRobot's core feature set: configurable HTTP method, full URL path, expected status codes, keyword match in response body, pause/resume, check history, and uptime percentage. Alert channels include email, Slack, signed webhooks and SMS. Webhooks are HMAC-signed — your receiver can verify payload integrity — and are included at the $15/mo entry tier without an additional upgrade.

UptimeRobot's free tier covers 50 uptime monitors, making it attractive for teams that primarily need uptime monitoring at low cost. CertFleet's free tier covers 10 SSL + 10 uptime monitors, suited to teams that need the SSL monitoring depth. If thorough SSL certificate lifecycle management — CT alerts, live probing, staged 30/14/7/1-day thresholds, signed webhooks — is a requirement, CertFleet is built for that job.
