The Pingdom alternative for SSL + uptime monitoring
Pingdom is a capable uptime monitoring platform that adds basic SSL expiry checks as a secondary feature. CertFleet is purpose-built around certificate lifecycle management — live TLS probing, Certificate Transparency alerts, staged expiry thresholds — and includes full HTTP uptime monitoring alongside, at a simpler price point.

Pingdom's SSL monitoring checks certificate expiry and alerts you when a cert is within a configurable number of days from expiration. It does not perform a live TLS handshake to verify the certificate your server actually serves — an important distinction. If auto-renewal generates a new certificate but the web server is not reloaded, the new certificate never reaches port 443. Pingdom's check will continue showing the old certificate as valid until it expires and your site goes down.
CertFleet performs a genuine TLS handshake on every scheduled check and reads the certificate your server presents in real time. It compares against the previous known certificate to detect replacements — planned renewals, issuer changes, or unexpected new certificates. Certificate Transparency log monitoring fires an immediate alert whenever a new certificate is issued for your domain, regardless of whether it has reached your server yet.
Webhooks are included in CertFleet's entry tier at $15/mo, HMAC-signed so your receiver can verify payload integrity. Pingdom's webhook integrations are available on higher tiers. CertFleet's staged alert thresholds fire at 30, 14, 7 and 1 days before certificate expiry — one notification per threshold, idempotent — rather than a single alert at a configurable days-remaining value.
On the uptime monitoring side, CertFleet covers the same core capability as Pingdom's HTTP checks: configurable method, full URL path, expected status codes, keyword matching in the response body, pause/resume, and history. For teams seeking a Pingdom alternative primarily to reduce cost while keeping solid uptime monitoring, CertFleet's entry tier at $15/mo includes 25 SSL + 25 uptime monitors with webhooks and REST API — comparable to Pingdom's entry-tier feature set.
Where Pingdom has an advantage is multi-region probing from many global checkpoints and synthetic transaction monitoring for complex user flows. CertFleet focuses on the certificate and HTTP availability layer and does not attempt to replicate Pingdom's full synthetic monitoring suite. For teams that need deep SSL certificate lifecycle management alongside solid uptime monitoring at a straightforward price, CertFleet is the focused alternative.
10 SSL + 10 uptime monitors free, no credit card. Webhooks and REST API from $15/mo.
